Maruxa among the 10 best mencía grape reds for less than 10 euros, according to Diario.es, where it explains that this rich variety has re-emerged being one of the oldest. In fact, it arrived in northern Spain during the Roman Empire and strains have been found even in medieval monasteries.
In this article, our Maruxa Mencía 2019 is described like this:
“It pays homage to the mother of the founder of the Virgen del Galir winery, that probably gave much love. That is why it is so rich, powerful and interesting on the nose; and differs from the others due to its minerality and breadth in the palate. Drink large to enjoy it more at every angle. It is a great Mencía of the DO Valdeorras, with 13% Vol and for 6.85 euros.”
